Trailer Shop Manager/ Repair Mechanic-Blackstrap, Inc-Neligh, NE, Blackstrap, Inc. in Neligh, NE Position Starts June 2024 or possibly earlier Job description BlackStrap, Inc is seeking a full-time Trailer Repair Shop Manager/Technician for their new Trailer Repair Shop located by Neligh, NE. Repair work includes DOT Inspections, light to medium duty warranty and non-warranty repairs on Blackstrap’s fleet of Timpte Hopper Bottom Trailers, and light-medium duty repair on other types of trailers as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties Include: Manage Trailer Shop to Schedule and Perform Diagnostics, Repairs, and Repair Orders for Blackstrap’s fleet hopper bottom trailers, equipment, and customer trailers. Diagnose and repair the following trailer components: abs brake systems, break drums, disc brake systems, tire alignment, wheel seals, air systems, electrical light systems, mechanical tarps, electrical tarp systems, traps, gear boxes, and other trailer components. Oversee Maintenance Program for all of Blackstrap’s trailers and equipment for regular servicing, preventive maintenance, tire rotations, washing (wash bay), and other regular maintenance functions. Perform DOT Inspections on BlackStrap’s fleet and trailer repair customers, prepare recommendations for repairs for fleet and customer trailers. Operate computer to create repair orders, order parts, schedule appointments, and other duties. Use inhouse software to accurately prepare repair quotes, record repair descriptions, parts used, and time of all work performed on repair orders for billing or fleet management tracking. Attend Training when needed to stay up to date on repair protocols, monitor repair trends for recommending different approaches to better maintenance Monday-Friday 40 hours on Day shift hours starting in June 2024 (earlier may be considered). Proficient skills to operate shop equipment and other heavy tools, fabrication/weld, maintain a clean and safe working environment, assist in performing any tasks outside those not listed in primary job functions.

Qualifications: Mechanical background in semi truck/trailer industry or similar field with trailer repair experience. Positive attitude, great customer service, ability to communicate problems, needs, and recommendations to management. Ability to work independently, organize time between repairs, parts, and other duties to stay time efficient. CDL Preferred to transfer, retrieve, and move trailers in/out of shop or to/ from other off-site locations.
