Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of an 80-120 hour nursing assistant course and registered to practice in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • High school graduate or equivalent is preferred
  • Must be able to perform all the requirements of the nursing assistant job description
  • Must have no performance/attendance issues documented in the past year
  • Must possess good communication skills and a willingness to work with all team players
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices
  • Previous experience in a health care facility is desired
  • Must have an acceptable criminal background check

Status:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is directly responsible to the Charge Nurse or Shift supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

Provides routine nursing care in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines

Specific Job Duties:

  • Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Christian Community Home and Services
  • Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments
  • Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships
  • Participates in giving and receiving report from nurses and nursing assistants
  • Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned
  • Actively participates in scheduled meetings/in-services
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain pertinent information regarding residents
  • Reviews and follows resident aide care sheets on a regular basis
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and prioritize actions before starting resident cares
  • Ensures vital signs and weights are accurate and completed as scheduled
  • Performs procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail care
  • Demonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents
  • Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, and turning/positioning techniques
  • Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed
  • Assists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers as appropriate
  • Assists and encourages residents to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplements
  • Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residents
  • Identifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staff
  • Allows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possible
  • Ensures resident rights are maintained at all times
  • Reports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediately
  • Participates in establishing and updating resident care plans and aide care sheets
  • Encourages residents to participate in self care as appropriate
  • Assists residents with the application of prosthetics when appropriate
  • Performs and assists with activities per activity calendar/activity daily sheets as appropriate to meet resident needs
  • Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safety
  • Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and practices
  • Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies
  • Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments
  • Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships
  • Follows work assignments and/or work schedules as assigned
  • Practices good personal hygiene and facility dress code
  • Assumes added duties as assigned by Nurse
