Job Summary:
EWU is currently recruiting for a Construction Project Coordinator 3. The Construction Project Coordinator 3 reports to the Director of Construction and Planning and provides full time project coordination duties on projects that are assigned. This position includes creative and effective responses for day-to-day planning and construction activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field. Applicable experience may substitute for education requirements.
  • 4 years experience developing the design and design documents in the office of a registered architect, licensed engineer, government construction office, working with a project engineer or manager for a construction contractor, or combination of the above.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Proficient with computer software such as Microsoft office suite.
  • Experience with architectural and engineering consultants and agreements related to those consulting functions.
  • Experience coordinating and implementing small construction projects.
  • Must be able to work independently. Prioritize work and communicate detailed information verbally and in writing to internal and external constituents to support department operations.
  • Ability to use sound judgement on engineering/architectural problems, understand and interpret written and oral directions, understand plans and specifications, and to deal tactfully and positively with engineers, architects, customers, state and building officials.
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient with computer aided design software (CAD) such as AutoCAD, Revit, or other.
  • Experience with Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Additional Technical Experience in one or more building systems: Medium/Low Voltage Electrical, Mechanical, Building Systems, Plumbing, Boiler Plant Operations, Facilities Security, or other.
  • Experience with facilities automation systems, such as: Electronic monitoring and switching, automated controls, and energy management.

Job Duties:

Responsibility / Duty: Construction Coordination:
  • This position coordinates with in-house staff, as necessary, on projects and scheduling for staff support on other contracted project work.
  • Evaluate submittals prepared by consultants and/or contractors for the design of new buildings and for major additions or renovations.
  • Review design/construction standards for use by consultants, contractors, and physical plant staff.
  • Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and other contract documents.
  • Establish scope of work, review and evaluate contractor proposals, recommend contractor selection, and approve contract payments.
  • Evaluate contract disputes.
  • Prepare cost estimates relative to all facets of real property construction including site development, building structures, and building systems (mechanical, electrical, and air conditioning).
  • Provide cash flow analysis based on design and construction schedules. Prepare cost estimates for capital budget acquisition.
  • Participate in contract bid evaluation.
  • AIM is the application of record for Facilities and Planning. This position will promote and support use of this application within all departments and assist in improving use by all Facilities and Planning staff. This includes following appropriate workflows, independently reviewing and entering data, direct contact with vendors, consultants, and contractor on necessary contract information, including but not limited to architects’ supplemental information, request for information, field orders, change order proposals, change orders, and invoices.

Responsibility / Duty: Programming and Design:
  • Establish design criteria and evaluate building designs based on EWU Design Guidelines and Construction Standards
  • Identify and determine corrective measures for actual or potential building failures including water intrusion, expansion/contraction failures, and drainage problems. Determine action necessary to stabilize or correct such problems.
  • Prepare written analysis and recommendations for use by department/institution management.
  • Evaluate and direct the work of consultants and contractors.
  • Develop and coordinate building system renewal programs.
  • Sustainability and Conservation. The university has made sustainability and energy conservation a top priority. This position is responsible for implementing sustainable design and installation techniques on minor and major capital projects to support these goals.
  • This position will represent the university’s interests in all project meetings with users, regulatory agencies, authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), university departments, outside stakeholders, and others as requested.

Salary Information: $79,680 – $107,196. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience and skills.
