Job Summary:
The College of Professional Programs at Eastern Washington University is currently seeking a skilled and team-oriented applicant for the following position: Program Coordinator for EWU School of Business. The Program Coordinator will support the graduate program and is responsible for coordinating and performing work and fulfilling functions related to the Program they are assigned to. The position will have extensive contact with program participants and will perform budget and fiscal tasks related to the program.

The position reports to the Director of Graduate Programs within the School of Business and will work closely with faculty members of the programs and other designated parties.

The position will exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying rules and procedures; will independently advise students, staff, program participants and/or the public regarding program content, policies, procedures and activities; and will select or recommend alternative courses of action.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school graduation or equivalent is required;
  • At least two years’ experience which includes responsibility for coordinating and fulfilling tasks related to program operations; to be considered qualifying, experience must be beyond entry level tasks, and include the requirement to use specialized knowledge to perform work functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, develop, oversee, organize, implement, evaluate outcomes and modify tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster strong working relationships both within and external to the organization.
  • Demonstrated competency in computer skills including utilization of MS Office applications for word processing, records maintenance, development and use of forms, and calendar applications, with a willingness to learn platforms and applications as they emerge.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel spreadsheets and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Job Duties:

Responsibility / Duty: Program Coordination Activities
  • Maintain relevant website and marketing materials, including flyer creation, program announcements, and quarterly advertisements
  • Manage social media and canvas pages
  • Facilitate dissemination of program information
  • Track student enrollments and progress
  • Assist in writing, completion and presentation of reports, special projects and assignments, and program updates
  • Provide programmatic support to Director including work related to program development, marketing, and implementation
  • Plan and implement student orientations, informational talks, and workshops
  • Other related duties as assigned

Responsibility / Duty: Advising
  • Assist with student application, admission and registration processes, and progression through the program
  • Provide general education advising
  • Conduct initial meetings with students and refer to appropriate major programs for program specific advising
  • Assist students in accessing services on the main EWU campus and Spokane campus

  • Direct and/or coordinate special projects and events, including work of major importance to the program
  • Develop and prepare informational materials designed to inform and recruit student participants; conduct presentations at student recruitment and orientation meetings
  • Attend team meetings; travel periodically to attend meetings and recruiting events
  • Coordinate dissemination of communications
  • Organize and facilitate conferences including preparation of agendas, order of speakers, and length of presentations
  • Maintain program web pages

Responsibility / Duty: Program Related Public & Organizational Contact
  • Serve as primary contact with students, faculty, and external agencies regarding program policies and procedures
  • Independently advise students, staff and the public regarding the program and the University
  • Initiate, maintain, and distribute student contact information
  • Act as liaison to faculty, staff, and colleagues at other agencies/institutions, representatives of funding agencies and officials from professional organizations, business, industry and government, interpreting policies and making decisions which facilitate progress of project(s)
  • Represent the programs at public, program, and College functions
  • Coordinate program information with EWU programs
  • Other related duties as assigned

Responsibility / Duty: Technical & Administrative Support
  • Assist students with EagleNet, Canvas, and web-based and online technologies
  • Design policies and forms including interpretation and application of administrative policies to the work of the program
  • Coordinate administrative standards and procedures for independent yet interrelated departmental functions such as research, curriculum, and instruction
  • Use EagleNet, Banner, Canvas, and other software to assist faculty and students
  • Perform office support functions: answer, screen, and direct telephone calls; compose and edit correspondence including confidential and sensitive information; coordinate document preparation for purchasing and event coordination
  • May also manage and schedule the Directors’ appointment calendar, determine itineraries, provide weekly calendar briefings, organize and prioritize incoming email and act as confidential liaison on behalf of Director(s)
  • Other related duties as assigned

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Salary Information: The salary for this position is $41,316 (minimum) up to $47,532. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.
