We’re looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Carbondale team who values how important strong decision-making skills and solid communication play at a multidisciplinary firm like Klingner. You’ll be working a wide-range of projects from industrial to educational, as well as spending time on job sites.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully complete projects on time and on budget, while utilizing leadership skills to estimate project hours, plan, schedule, and coordinate all technical work.
  • Responsible for designing a wide-range of structural building systems. Designs of buildings including: concrete, masonry, steel, and wood/timber; gravity and lateral systems.
  • Track project scope, schedule, and budget to minimize project write-offs.
  • Candidate will thrive and welcome constant collaboration with architects, engineers, and clients as part of Klingner’s project design processes.
  • Conduct meetings, project presentations, project proposal scope writing, and other writing assignments required for projects.
  • Lead all projects with a solid understanding of regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Being a decision-maker in developing structural solutions from concept through construction; developing system layouts, narratives, calculations, and engineering reports.
  • Mentoring younger staff.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil, Architectural, or Agricultural Engineering, specializing in structures.
  • Qualified applicants must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, or Kentucky.
  • Licensed Structural Engineer is a plus. Otherwise, future intentions of applying to take the structural engineer licensure exam is preferred.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years working experience in industrial and / or commercial work.
  • Candidate must be goal oriented with a strong skill-set in problem solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
  • Hold a solid understanding and extensive experience working on a wide-range of state, federal, and private structural engineering designs, including preparing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Qualified candidates will boast a solid technical background, a driven sense of project responsibility, and the ability to excel while juggling multiple projects.
  • Excellent and proficient understanding of Revit / BIM is required.
  • Candidate must have solid understanding in using Microsoft Excel and Word, and other Microsoft office software products.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Organizing, prioritizing, and performing work assignments with minimal supervision.
