Education: Associate Degree-graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology preferred. Bachelors Degree-graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy required.
Experience: 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training preferred.
Certificate, Licenses, Registrations: Registry credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT): R.T.(R)(T) or R.T.(T) required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Primary Job Duties:
- Adheres to Mary Lanning Healthcare's Mission, Vision and Values.

- Positions patient on examination table or in alignment with the appropriate piece of radiation therapy equipment and makes adjustments to immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specific area of the body being filmed / treated.
- Explains procedures being done to the patient to reduce anxiety / uncertainty and obtains patient's cooperation; provides for patient comfort and care.
- Moves / positions radiation therapy equipment into specific position and adjusts equipment apparatus and controls to set exposure / radiation factors based on individual patient; operates equipment selected according to standard operating procedure and as directed by the radiation oncologist.
- Creates images / or simulations to ensure correct handling of patient during radiation treatment.
- Schedules patients for examinations / treatments with radiation oncologist.
- Practices good radiation protection techniques and wears radiation exposure monitoring devices as required.
- Communicates and corresponds with attending physician, physician's office staff, other hospitals, etc. to obtain pertinent information about patient's diagnosis / condition.
- Assist patient to and from examination, treatment area; may transport patient from department to other areas of the hospital via wheelchair, patient bed as appropriate.
- Records or charts information related to care given to patient as appropriate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of malignant tumors and the type of Radiation Treatment needed. Provides appropriate education about the treatment and potential side effects based on the patient's ability to comprehend.
- May perform clerical duties including: filing records / charts, answering phones, taking messages, copying forms, faxing records, etc.
- Attends / participates in departmental meetings, inservices, Mary Lanning Healthcare quality improvement programs, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
