Building Automation Technician (00667A)
Facilities Management at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Building Automation Technician (full-time, 12 month) position. The Building Automation Technician will provide the technical expertise necessary to efficiently manage modern “Smart Buildings” and optimize energy efficiency in campus facilities. The position will be integral to the energy management team. The sophistication of the technology associated with Smart Buildings as it relates to HVAC controls, fire/safety and electrical systems continues to increase rapidly and requires a thorough understanding of a variety of disciplines including mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering principles along with a strong background in operations and maintenance of HVAC equipment and utility billing. This position will report to the HVAC supervisor and work very closely with the HVAC shop or the maintenance shops.
Required Education: Considerable knowledge of operation, maintenance and repair of institutional HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, air handlers, cooling towers along with digital/pneumatic controls and building automation systems.
