Junior/Senior High School Principal/Curriculum Coordinator FULL-TIME X PART-TIME

B. Education Level: Master’s degree in secondary administration

C. Certification or Licensure: Nebraska secondary principal’s certificate or provisional

D. Experience Desired: 5 years teaching

E. Other Requirements: Knowledge of current effective schools research and data. Knowledge of curriculum development, budget planning, class scheduling, building management, staff evaluation, district policies, school laws, management of staff and students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provides leadership and supervises staff in developing, organizing and utilizing resources for an effective instructional program at the junior/senior high school level • Provide leadership and supervises in developing, organizing and utilizing resources for an effective disciplined atmosphere for learning at the junior/senior high school level • Supervises instructional, athletic and extra curricular programs • Conducts formal observation and evaluation of instructional staff • Assists in area of supervising home activity events and coordinates with others for administrative supervision of away events. • Coordinates educational workshops • Provides appropriate and safe learning environment • Conduct observations of students as necessary • Works with teachers, Principal and Superintendent to implement School Improvement Program • Advises Superintendent of future staff, material, equipment and facility needs • Responsible for the welfare of all students • Provides for personal needs of students and staff • Consults with Superintendent in assisting staff in offering course materials (curriculum) for students with above average learning abilities • Establishes effective communications with students, staff and parents • Conducts marketing of educational programs • Counsels staff, students and parents • Coordinates activities with assistance from subject area teachers • Attends meetings of various groups such as Parent-Teacher organizations, athletes club, and other school and community organizations • Meets with students for purposes of furnishing information, monitoring, counseling and congratulating on academic, athletic or activity success • Maintains order and discipline during school and extra-curricular events • Carries out District discipline policy and communicates effectively with parents on such matters • Develops building regulations and Parent/Student handbook • Administration of Grades 7-12 discipline and associated parent communications • Sponsor/Attend 7-12 functions such as Homecoming, Prom, Plays, etc. • Prepare and disseminate weekly Down/Discipline lists • Share duties with Special Education Director with regard to secondary IEP meetings • Responsible for publicizing activities of the school involving secondary programs and students • Oversees pilot/special programs • Consults with district administrators regarding special education procedures and guidelines; appropriate programming for identified students • Oversee transfer students between districts • Help with transitions (PK-K; Elementary to Middle; Middle to High School) • Assists faculty members in the development, writing, implementation, evaluation and revision of PK – 12 curriculum • Provides ongoing evaluation of curriculum maps/curriculum guides, with annual updates of objectives and assessments • Aligns curriculum with Nebraska Content Area Standards • Facilitates the articulation of curriculum among and between grade levels • Coordinates and oversees the selection of textbooks and other educational materials. Maintains a district-wide list of all textbooks which includes dates of purchase • Coordinates curricular compliance with federal, state, and Department of Education standards and legislated mandates
