Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator
Summary of Duties:
This position is required to collaborate with many individuals in operations. Attend Pre-Construction (Pre-Con) meetings and Plant Safety Meetings, as well as construction job site meetings. Performs pre-delivery job site inspections and responds to job site delivery issues to facilitate safe and efficient delivery as required. Attends and mentors Company safety committees. Provide Osha safety orientation training with all new hires. In addition, this position is responsible for assisting with the training of current employees within our Superior Materials LLC Safety culture as established. Conduct facility audits for safety, Osha and DOT sites. Reviews & communicates injury & liability loss trends and root cause analysis to their assigned operations groups.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, Prioritize and actively engage with solutions of safety issues/trends
- Respond and manage activities appropriately to effectively implement safety programs.
- Assist in performing pre-delivery job site inspections to identify and resolve potential high-risk safety issues and/or hindrances to safe delivery.
- Frequent visits to local ready-mix plants, and works closely with subcontractors, external customers.
- Respond to complaints of safety hazards at existing job sites to address the issues mentioned above.
- Prepares monthly safety topics for daily toolbox talk meetings.
- Make recommendations for changes to the new hire curriculum when necessary.
- Conduct Facility Audits for compliance with Osha Standards.
- Attends job site safety meetings to ensure content is relevant and useful.
- Assist in incident investigations for root cause analysis.
- Track Area incident trends and make recommendations to management to reduce exposure.
- Provide training to the current workforce, ensuring that Safety standards are understood.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager
- Assist Area Managers in record-keeping for all ready-mix plants to ensure 100% compliance with Federal, State and Local DNR and environmental agencies
- Identify and correct any stormwater runoff issues that may occur per ready-mix plant

Skills/Qualifications:
Be able to communicate in a professional manner across all employee and management positions.
- Engage with operations daily and establish strong working relationships with upper management groups.
- Good presentation skills for formal meetings. Both with hourly and management employees.
- Possess strong skills in prioritizing activities.
- Assertive, can-do and persuasive personality
- PC literate.
- Work with minimal supervision and work independently.
- Ability to train others on the safety standards.
- Ability to work closely with local Osha/Environmental agencies.
