Technology Innovation Teacher
Direct Supervisor: Head of Lower School and Head of Middle School
FLSA: Exempt
Type: Full-Time Faculty Employee

The Technology Innovation Teacher is a creative and student-centered educator who will develop and enhance the technological and innovation experience for K-8 students and employees. A forward thinker, who will work collaboratively to further the school's STEM initiatives and design spaces, affording our students additional opportunities to develop creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Works closely with academic leadership and the school's technology team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate learning around technology for K-8 that utilizes traditional and new tools to promote student agency and responsible use; technology curriculum includes but is not limited to, digital citizenship, robotics, coding, media creation, and digital literacy

  • Provide educational opportunities that empower students to become critical and interdisciplinary thinkers, enthusiastic tinkerers, and problem-solvers

  • Integrate STEM principles into the instructional program by utilizing project-based and applied learning experiences that foster creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking

  • Promote the safe, responsible, and ethical use of digital media and tools

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to assist them and their students with lessons and projects that require technology integration or design thinking principles

  • Collaborate with academic leadership and the Technology Systems Manager to establish educational technology norms and goals

  • Lends expertise and counsel to help create collaborative design spaces on campus

  • Work with the Technology Systems Manager to create and deliver faculty in-service training on the topic of technology integration into the curriculum

  • Member of Indy's technology team, providing technology support to students and faculty as needed

  • Work with the academic leadership and Business Office for budgeting and ordering

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications

A degree in education, science, technology, or related field

  • At least three years of experience in education

    • Early career or change of career candidates will also be considered

  • Strong knowledge of and deep passion for using technology as a tool for productivity, creativity, and collaboration

  • Experience with the latest educational technologies and continued professional development to keep abreast of new technology initiatives

  • Interest in coaching robotics

The Technology Innovation Teacher is a 10-month position and follows the academic calendar. Occasional paid work during the summer will be required as needed.
