Job Description Summary:
This position works as a specialist in multiple crafts or trades. Work requires highly specialized knowledge, experience, and the ability to independently perform and complete projects requiring a variety of crafts or trades including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, controls and piping systems including hydronic, steam and air with an emphasis on troubleshooting in all areas.

Job Description:

Competency Definition
  • Basic: Level of experience gained in a classroom and/or experimental scenarios or as a trainee on-the-job.
  • Proficient: Able to successfully complete tasks independently with occasional assistance from an expert
  • Advanced: Able to successfully complete tasks independently without assistance.
  • Expert: Able to provide guidance, troubleshoot and answer questions related to this area of expertise and the field where the skill is used.


Employment Conditions: Lift, carry, push or pull 20-50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

Education: Technical or trade degree, certification, or 3 years equivalent

experience.

Licenses: Master's Electrician License

Work Experience
  • MCMT III: 5+ years of experience with facilities maintenance; advanced knowledge in electrical; proficient knowledge in the remaining (HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical systems, and controls).
  • MCMT IV: 5+ years of experience with facilities maintenance; expert knowledge in electrical advanced knowledge of the remaining (HVAC, plumbing, piping, mechanical systems, and controls).
  • Experience using computers.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with work order management system.


Skills: All levels
  • Troubleshooting/Critical Thinking skills.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.


Job Duties:

Job duties vary in complexity based on MCMT level. Basic MCMT job duties are listed below.
  • Troubleshoot and repair commercial equipment involving electrical, plumbing, & HVAC systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities.
  • Use maintenance work order system to complete work orders.
  • MCMT IV only: Responsible for lead role within the sub department including: assigning and directing work of skilled labor workforce, reporting to manager information about major projects they are overseeing and employee performance, acting as materials requesting backup when needed

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
