Job Description

A post-doctoral fellow position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Shaoping Hou at the Dalton Cardiovascular Research Center (DCRC), University of Missouri - Columbia.TheDalton Cardiovascular Research Centerprovides an outstanding academic environment for gaining training in autonomic neuroscience research.The research team uses both rat and mouse models to study autonomic dysfunction, particularly cardiovascular and bladder disorders, after spinal cord injury (SCI). We will mainly explore cell transplantation, neural regeneration, and cell reprogramming to reconstitute central regulation for autonomic functional recovery. The studies will employ a wide range of neuroscience, cardiovascular, and micturition techniques including SCI animal models, physiological recordings, neural tract tracing, human iPSC differentiation, passiveexercise training,pharmacological interventions, and molecular biology as well as histology. The candidate should have strong interests in autonomic neuroscience andexperience in working with rodent, and is able to workindependently,highly motivated, and enthusiastic.The post-doctoral fellow will work on neuro-cardiovascular or micturition experiments, data analysis, writing manuscripts, preparing fellowship grants, and helping mentor students and technicians. This position enables the post-doc to acquire comprehensive research training inautonomic neuroscienceareas for pursuing higher academic goals in the future.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in neuroscience/cardiovascular or related disciplines.

Candidates will be evaluated on their:

· Basic skills in animal surgery, histology and microscopy

· Good publication record, written and spoken English proficiency

· Years of postdoctoral experience

· Related specialties, such as electrophysiology

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary will be based on NIH scale commensurate with experience and capability.
