Job Description

The laboratory of Ron Mittler at the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center, University of Missouri, Columbia, is seeking a highly motivated scientist to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms controlling reactive oxygen species (ROS) and redox signaling. The successful candidate will be part ofthe Interdisciplinary Plant Group and theBond Life Sciences Center. Competitive salary and fringe benefits are available for this position.

Job Duties:
  • Identify and characterizing mutants altered in ROS cell-to-cell signaling.
  • Determine the molecular, biochemical, and metabolic mechanisms underlying the mechanisms used by cells to mediate ROS signaling.
  • Determine how ROS signaling is spread from cell-to-cell in plants and other organisms.
  • Generate large-scale omics datasets for the study of ROS signaling.
  • Conduct bioinformatics, biostatistics, and other types of analyses on omics/experimental data.
  • Study stress/stress combination responses of plants and other organisms.
  • Use advanced imaging tools to study ROS/redox signaling.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in plant biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related discipline by the time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

Having a strong background in stress biology, imaging, cell biology, physiology, omics, and biochemistry as well as excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative research environment.
