JOB DETAILS:

The University of Wisconsin-Stout is seeking a collaborative professional, committed to promoting the development of an equitable and inclusive environment, serving as the financial specialist for the IT department. The position operates independently, while under the general supervision of the CIO/Assistant Chancellor for Learning and Information Technology (LIT).

The Business Manager/ Software Purchasing Coordinator oversees the management of financial funding strings and budget development processes for the LIT department. This position also works closely with the department on account-related issues, offering advice and consultation to the CIO and other unit directors to foster effective unit finances. The position works closely and collaboratively with other University business managers and budget personnel. The Business Manager/Software Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for financial reconciliation and ensuring unit compliance with University policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition, this position coordinates enterprise software and hardware procurement activities to ensure adherence with University policies, practices, and regulations.

This position requires engagement at a variety of levels within the organization and the ability to execute multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, exercise considerable independent judgment, and be attentive to detail with a customer-center approach to service. The Business Manager/ Software Purchasing Coordinator must possess strong ethics, exemplary analytical and administrative skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum / Required

  • Associate degree or two (2) years related work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the principles and practices of professional accounting
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills in working with a diverse community
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills

Highly Desired/Preferred

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong working knowledge of data querying tools
  • Knowledge of state and federal fiscal rules, regulations, and procedures
  • Broad understanding of enterprise software, hardware procurement and/or vendor selection, purchase requisition creation, and budget control
  • Knowledge and experience with how technology is used in an institutional setting
  • Commitment to cultivating a positive work environment that embraces inclusion

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primarily reviews, approves, and advises on a variety of complex financial transactions.
  • Reconciles transactions.
  • Maintains financial records and budget of area.
  • Coordinates departmental purchases and purchases of University-wide software.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a full-time 12-month exempt appointment with a minimum starting salary of $52,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Limited remote work/telecommuting may be possible after completion of a training period, successful on-the-job performance, departmental needs assessment and approval in accordance with the UW-Stout's telecommuting policy.
