Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
Massey Cancer Center is seeking a Financial Analyst to assist with budgeting activities and index reconciliations within MCC finance. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position will work closely with internal stakeholders on assigned indexes, as well as the Chief Administrative Officer to develop and implement new processes, track expenses, reporting and help with day-to-day functions related to finance operations.
Other job duties include and are not limited to:
- Management of systems to accurately monitor the revenues and expenditures of the MCC
- Responsible for index reconciliation for all assigned indexes associated with the MCC finance structure
- Ensuring that timely monthly signoff is completed at the analyst and chair level
- Develop and implement standard reporting of indexes to internal stakeholders
- Ad-hoc financial reporting as needed
- Review processes and suggest improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiencies
- Ensure compliance with university and/or agency regulations and restrictions.
- Expert on MCC's chart of accounts, non-grant sources of funding and grants.

- Experience in budget preparation and/or accounting analysis
- Experience with automated financial systems and Microsoft Office
- Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated ability to apply budgeting and accounting principles, practices, methods and procedures
- Ability to identify, define, analyze, and formulate alternative solutions to complex administrative and budget implementation issues
- Have high levels of initiative, resourcefulness, and attention to detail
- Self-starter with strong skills in prioritizing work flow
- Must be able to use discretion and wise judgment in dealing with sensitive and confidential subject matter
- Graduation from a college or university with a major in accounting, business administration, public administration, or related field, or an equivalent combination of professional level training and experience
- Experience in higher education or state agency is preferred. Considerable knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices and principles
- Knowledge of Banner (VCU's ERP system) is preferred
- Experience with Google Workplace applications
