Human Resource Manager
Job Description
Responsible for the efficient administration and management of human resources functions for the large staff of fulltime and parttime employees at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center, including recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, performance management, compensation and staffing plans, compliance with all federal, state and university statutory requirements and policies; oversight of employee relations activities. This position will provide each department with the staff support and guidance to help achieve their customer service and business objectives, and is responsible for ensuring a proactive human resources environment consistent with budget requirements. This position supervises the fulltime HR Coordinator position.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field or equivalent level of training and or experience; prior human resource experience including personnel practices, hiring, application of progressive disciplinary systems and training; experience working with confidential and sensitive information and challenging situations that require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy; excellent interpersonal skills; experience with current software such as Microsoft Office and the ability to prepare official memorandums and correspondence; must have mathematical skills in order to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration and to forecast departmental expenses; must be detail orientated; ability to multitask and meet multiple deadlines; ability to collect accurate information and resolve conflicts; ability to interpret policy and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel; must be able to provide clear and meaningful instructions, and guidance to various team members regarding employee performance management, recruitment, adherence to employee guidelines, training, and morale.
Preferred Qualifications
Human resources experience in the hospitality industry; human resources experience in an academic setting; management experience; supervisory experience; experience with large relational databases such as Banner and Leave Reporting Systems; Human Resources certification or progress towards a certification; experience with and knowledge of time and attendance record keeping.

Additional Information
Normal work schedule is Monday- Friday 8am to 5pm, additional hours may be required due to business demands and established hotel deadlines. The successful candidate will participate in the MOD (Manager On Duty) program on a rotational schedule.
