The Director of Clinical Nutrition Services directs and manages all aspects of the clinical nutrition services for our 24/7 level of care eating disorder treatment programs while providing supervision to the Food Service Manager, Nutrition Coordinators, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RD/RDNs), and Diet Technicians and managing collaborations that interface with nutrition-related services in the setting of the multidisciplinary eating disorder care team. The Director of Clinical Nutrition Services serves on the Leadership Team of Walden Behavioral Care and works under the supervision of the Executive Director of our Dedham facility.
Hours/Shift: Full time
Primary responsibilities include:
* Leadership of Clinical Nutrition philosophy and training:
o Plan, develop, and implement nutrition philosophy and operations for larger facility to enhance Walden Behavioral Care's current nutrition programming and increase referral sources from outpatient dietitians
o Provide senior leadership to the Department of Nutrition to spearhead strategic initiatives and advocate for the Department's interests
o Plan, develop, implement, and oversee training of new members of the clinical nutrition team and collaborating staff including meal coaches and mental health counselors.
o Represent Walden Behavioral Care and the Department of Nutrition in professional venues including conferences, webinars, continuing education and research presentations (as relevant) to promote the visibility of our programs and treatment outcomes
* Supervision and implementation of clinical nutrition programming as a complementary and coordinated part of the general treatment approach at Walden:
o Develop, train, and direct the staff of RDNs that provides clinical nutrition therapy in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Walden Behavioral Care
o Support clinical nutrition team in providing highest quality clinical nutrition therapy including use of individual and group therapy, completing thorough and accurate nutrition assessments, and providing appropriate nutrition recommendation with use of meal plans and enteral nutrition
o Provide ongoing group supervision to clinical nutrition staff on a weekly/monthly basis
o Provide individual supervision to clinical nutrition staff on a biweekly basis
o Provide supervision, training and mentorship to entry-level RDNs and those seeking advancement by earning the specialty credentials of the CEDRD (Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian)
o Plan, provide and oversee ongoing professional development activities for the clinical nutrition staff, including but not limited to monthly journal club
o Collaborate and coordinate with other senior and executive members of the leadership team to create cohesive and unified treatment approach and achieve best patient outcomes
* Administrative director of clinical nutrition department:
o Oversee staffing plans and operating procedures for the Department
o Plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and manage clinical nutrition services provided by the Department
o Assess nutrition-related Quality Assurance procedures
o Develop, operationalize and evaluate policies and procedures for clinical nutrition services at Walden Behavioral Care
* Oversight and supervision of dietary services at Dedham:
o Collaborate with the Foodservice Manager to ensure quality of foodservices meet the standards of Walden Behavioral Care and its patients while supporting the clinical nutrition goals and therapeutic processes.
o Collaborate and supervise Foodservice Manager to develop and oversee components of foodservice operations.
Education:
* Master's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a closely related field, or a Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition, is required
Experience:
* A minimum of five years' experience providing direct nutritional care in an Eating Disorder Service and Mental Health setting, required
* A minimum of two years' experience supervising and managing a clinical nutrition team, required
* Experience with menu planning and therapeutic diets in a healthcare setting, required
Licensure/Certification:
* Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) in the state of MA
* Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)
* Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian (CEDRD) eligible for or currently holding the additional Supervisory credential (CEDRD-S) from the International Academy of Eating Disorder Professionals
Knowledge:
* Specialty care for eating disorder diagnoses and co-morbid psychiatric conditions
* Medical nutrition therapy
* Motivational interviewing
* Nutrition care process
* Nutrition counseling

* Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating
* Familiarity with additional therapeutic strategies including CBT, DBT, ACT, FBT and ERP

* Excellent advocacy and communication skills (both verbal and written)
